Abstract

This creative project aims to describe the role of the producer in the production process of the short fiction film Her Final Chapter, covering the pre-production, production, and post-production stages. From the producer’s perspective, the main focus of this work is managing the entire production process to effectively realize the film’s creative vision, which centers on the relationship between a sex worker mother living with end-stage HIV and her daughter, despite limited resources.

Through the implementation of production management functions consisting of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling (POAC), this project seeks to ensure that all creative, technical, and administrative requirements are carried out in a structured manner so that the production process can proceed according to the established schedule, budget, and objectives. The producer plays a role in various aspects of production, including idea development, budgeting, crew and cast recruitment, logistics management, supervision of the filming process, as well as coordination of post-production and film distribution.

During its implementation, resource-efficiency strategies were applied through a collaborative working system and the assignment of multiple responsibilities to several production departments without compromising the intended artistic quality. The final outcome of this production process is a film that is expected to serve as a space for reflection on social stigma, family relationships, and the importance of honest communication in complex situations. Furthermore, this work demonstrates how the producer’s role becomes a crucial element in bridging managerial requirements and creative vision to ensure that a film can be realized optimally.
