Undergraduate Thesis in Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. 2025.
This study aims to examine how students of the Communication Science Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang interpret educational content about healthy lifestyles uploaded through the TikTok account @farhanzubedi, using Stuart Hall's reception theory as the conceptual framework. This research employs a qualitative interpretive method with a constructivist approach, conducted through interviews with five students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The findings reveal that the majority of the audience occupies a dominant-hegemonic position, accepting health messages in their entirety, influenced by their perception of dr. Farhan's credibility as a medical professional, his communicative delivery style, and the accessibility of the presented material. A portion of the audience occupies a negotiated position, accepting the core message while offering critical remarks regarding the limited video duration and the need for more comprehensive verification of medical information. No audience members were found to occupy an oppositional position. Overall, the educational content on the TikTok account @farhanzubedi is considered effective in raising students' awareness of the importance of maintaining health and adopting a healthy lifestyle in the digital age.
