Abstract
This work aims to describe the role of the director in the production process of the short fiction film "Her Final Chapter", spanning the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production. From a directorial perspective, the primary focus of this work is to capture the humanity of a woman living under social stigma, where stigma is understood as a social burden that shapes the entirety of how Ratri navigates her life and builds relationships with those around her. Through a visual and narrative approach grounded in the concepts of mise en scene, blocking, and staging, this work seeks to create an atmosphere that invites the audience to directly experience the emotional complexity faced by Ratri and Alya. The director endeavors to translate a sensitive social issue into an honest cinematic language without falling into emotional exploitation or the oversimplification of conflict. This work encompasses the full directorial process, from concept development, scriptwriting, and casting, to the oversight of post-production. The final outcome of this production is a work intended to serve as a space for reflection on love, pain, and struggle amid social judgment, while also functioning as an educational medium that illustrates how irresponsible sexual behavior can carry consequences far beyond the individual, and demonstrates the role of the director in bringing a narrative vision to life on screen.
