Abstract
Background: Head injuries can cause increased intracranial pressure caused by
cerebral edema and bleeding in the brain. In head injuries, increased ICP is
consistently associated with poor outcomes. Ways are needed to reduce ICP,
including mechanical ventilation management and 30⁰ head up.
Objective: To analyze the combination of mechanical ventilation management a
30⁰ head up in reducing ICP in head injured patients.
Method: The research method used in the preparation of this KIAN is a case stu
report, which includes assessment to evaluation. The sample of this research is
injured patient respondent with purposive sampling technique. Collecting data
using interviews, observation and physical examination.
Results: After being given nursing care for 3 consecutive days, the authors rais
the main diagnosis of decreased intracranial pressure b.d cerebral edema. From
these main diagnoses the problem has not been resolved and there are no signs
decreasing ICP in head injured patients.
Conclusion: The nursing problem of decreasing intracranial pressure b.d cereb
edema in head injured patients arises due to cerebral edema. The action that the
nurse has taken is the management of ICP reduction. Not enough with this, the
recommendations needed for patients are ventilation management and a head up
30⁰.
