Abstract
Background: Nursing students are particularly vulnerable to stress due to increasing academic and clinical demands, especially during the middle phase of their education. Physical activity is considered a potential factor associated with stress levels.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the association between physical activity and The Relationship Between Physical Activity and Stress Levels in Students of the Class of 2023, University of Muhammadiyah Malang
Metode: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 164 nursing students from the 2023 cohort, selected using a total sampling technique. Physical activity was measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF), while stress levels were assessed using the Student-Life Stress Inventory (SSI). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and Spearman’s rank correlation test, with a significance level set at α = 0.05.
Result: The findings revealed that the majority of respondents had low levels of physical activity (63.4%) and moderate stress levels (45.7%). The results of the Spearman correlation test indicated a weak negative correlation (r = -0.113) with a p-value of 0.149 (p > 0.05), suggesting that there was no statistically significant association between physical activity and stress levels.
Conclusion: no significant association was found between physical activity and stress levels among nursing students. Nevertheless, maintaining regular physical activity remains essential for supporting both physical and mental health. Future studies are recommended to explore other contributing factors influencing stress levels among students.
