Abstract
Background : The average incidence of nosocomial infections in Indonesia is around 9.1% with variations of 6.1%-16.0%. Meanwhile, in East Java itself the incidence of nosocomial infections is 11.7%. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about nosocomial infections and nurses' compliance in using PPE in Malang Hospital. Research design : This research design uses a cross sectional with a quantitative approach. This research used a total sampling technique with a population of 55 nurses working in the Malang Hospital inpatient room. The instrument used for knowledge about nosocomial infections uses a questionnaire and for the instrument for compliance in the use of PPE uses an observation sheet. This research uses the Spearman correlation test. Results : Based on the Spearman correlation test, it was obtained There is a relationship between knowledge about nosocomial infections and nurses' compliance in using PPE (p value (0.034) < α (0.05)). Knowledge about nosocomial infections among nurses in inpatient rooms showed that nurses had moderate knowledge (58.2%) and compliance in using PPE was found to be non-compliant (65.5%). Conclusion : There is a relationship between knowledge about nosocomial infections and nurses' compliance in using PPE among nurses working in the Malang Hospital inpatient room.
