The purpose of this study was to determine the process of developing diorama learning media on the topic of the states of matter—solid, liquid, and gas—for fourth-grade elementary school students. This research was motivated by the condition of students at SDN Purwantoro 03, who were easily bored, and by the use of IPAS learning media that was still less innovative. Based on the needs analysis conducted at SDN Purwantoro 03, diorama learning media was required as a supporting tool in IPAS learning.
This study applied the ADDIE research and development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were fourth-grade students of SDN Purwantoro 03. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques consisted of qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
The results of developing the diorama learning media on the topic of the states of matter—solid, liquid, and gas—for fourth-grade elementary school students showed that material validation reached 77% and media validation reached 83%. Both results were categorized as valid and therefore feasible to be implemented. Based on the teacher response questionnaire, the diorama media was considered practical with a percentage of 97%. Thus, the diorama learning media was declared practical for use in teaching the topic of solid, liquid, and gas.
