Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of career development and work environment on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable at the Personnel Department of Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base. This research employs a quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees and analyzed using SmartPLS.
The results indicate that career development does not have a direct effect on employee performance. In contrast, the work environment has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Both career development and work environment significantly influence job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Mediation analysis reveals that job satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between career development and employee performance, and partially mediates the relationship between work environment and employee performance. These findings highlight the critical role of job satisfaction in enhancing employee performance.
