Road damage can be a contributing factor to accidents on the highway, and this issue often has serious implications for road users' safety. Road managers, such as local governments or authorities responsible for road maintenance and upkeep, play a crucial role in addressing this matter. This research aims to determine and analyze the criminal liability of road managers in the event of accidents caused by road damage and the legal protection provided to road users who experience accidents due to road damage. The methodology used in this study is normative juridical with the technique of collecting literature study materials. The conclusion and recommendation of this research are that there is criminal liability for road managers if negligence results in road damage. Road managers are expected to diligently adhere to road maintenance principles.
