Thursday Cultural Habituation is a routine activity conducted every Thursday at SD Negeri 01 Srimulyo Dampit. However, some upper-grade students are unfamiliar with culture or lack cultural literacy. Therefore, an analysis of the Thursday Cultural Habituation is necessary to improve the cultural literacy of upper-grade students. This study aims to (1) Determine the behavior and communication style of upper-grade students at SD Negeri 01 Srimulyo Dampit (2) To determine the strategies implemented by the group in introducing culture (cultural mentoring), especially Javanese culture through the habit of Thursday Culture implemented at SD Negeri 01 Srimulyo Dampit (3) To determine the opportunities for students to express opinions with friends or teachers through the habit of Thursday Culture (cultural dialogue) (4) to determine students' understanding of students about culture and cultural literacy at SD Negeri 01 Srimulyo Dampit (cultural due diligence).
This study uses qualitative research and the type of approach used is descriptive. The data sources consisted of grades 4, 5, and 6 of SD Negeri 01 Srimulyo Dampit, totaling 30 grade 4 students, 25 grade 5 students, and 25 grade 6 students. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation, and student questionnaires.
The results of the study showed (1) the fluency and eloquence of students in communicating using the polite and high manners of language are still lacking, and also the application and way of speaking in communicating using polite and high manners of language have not been implemented by all upper grade students. This occurs due to the lack of warnings given by teachers and principals to upper grade students regarding the use of polite and high manners of language. The attitudes of students also do not show, in fact, students have not preserved Javanese culture. (2) There are several stages in understanding Javanese culture, namely the stage of cultural understanding, strategies and methods used by teachers to introduce Javanese culture and finally carrying out an evaluation to determine students' understanding. (3) Discussion space in the Thursday Cultural habit still needs to be actively encouraged for discussion given to students. This occurs because of the lack of a conducive environment for discussion. (4) Understanding of the meaning of culture is still not said to be successful. This is due to the lack of understanding of the meaning by students and even students do not know which clothes to wear.
