Abstract

The Kahayya Dam project in Bulukumba Regency is a multi-purpose water resource management initiative designed to address irrigation needs, raw water supply, flood control, renewable energy, and tourism. This study covers a comprehensive scope, including hydrological analysis, dam body design, diversion structures, spillways, and intake facilities. The hydrological assessment utilizes a combination of station-based and calibrated satellite rainfall data, with the Gumbel distribution serving as the foundation for design rainfall calculations. Engineering results define a reservoir capacity of 276.69 million m³, supported by a 140-meter-high dam with a crest elevation of +980 m; all structural components meet established stability criteria. The diversion works consist of a tunnel system, while the spillway utilizes a side-channel design with an Ogee profile to ensure optimal hydraulic performance. Ultimately, the Kahayya Dam is technically feasible and stands as a strategic asset for strengthening food security, ensuring clean water access, and providing sustainable flood mitigation for the region.
