Abstract
This study aims to improve student’s creativity in writing short stories through the implementation of the Story Cubes method in third-grade elementary school students. Student’s low creativity in writing is indicated by difficulties in generating ideas, developing story plots, and a lack of interest in writing activities. Therefore, an engaging learning method that can stimulate student’s imagination is needed.
This Classroom Research Action (CAR) conducted in several cycles. The subjects of this study were third-grade elementary school students. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of observation sheets, teacher and student activity sheets, interview guidelines.
The result showed that the implementation of the Story Cubes method was able to enhance student’s creativity in writing short stories. This improvement a reflected in student’s ability to generate ideas, organize story plots, and develop imagination in writing. In addition, student’s activeness and enthusiasm in the learning process also increased in each cycle, the Story Cubes method can be used as an effective alternative in teaching short story writing in elementary schools.
