Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of Arabic vocabulary learning using card-based media through the “Tempel Warna” game, as well as to identify the challenges and solutions in the learning process at Institut Tahfiz Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving one Arabic teacher and eight grade 4 Banat students. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the learning process was carried out systematically through preliminary, core, and closing stages, involving interactive activities such as vocabulary review through songs, writing vocabulary, searching for real objects based on colors, and attaching sticky notes to objects. These activities increased students’ participation in learning. The challenges included differences in students’ abilities, hesitation in identifying colors, and difficulty in memorizing certain vocabulary. The teacher addressed these challenges by providing clearer instructions and direct guidance. In conclusion, the use of card-based media through the “Tempel Warna” game helps create more interactive, contextual, and engaging vocabulary learning.
