Abstract
This research was motivated by the mathematics learning process on arithmetic operations up to 20 in first-grade elementary school, which is still conducted conventionally and lacks engaging learning media. This condition results in low student involvement and difficulties in understanding the concepts of addition and subtraction concretely. Therefore, this study aims learning tool for first-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Batu.
This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The theoretical foundations used in this research include Piaget’s cognitive development theory, the principle of concrete learning, and the concept of learning by playing, which emphasizes learning through play-based activities. The data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation.
The results of the study indicate that the Ice Cream Shop learning media is feasible for use in mathematics learning. The average student score reached 85, exceeding the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM). In addition, the teacher response questionnaire obtained a percentage of 94.4%, categorized as very good. In conclusion, the Ice Cream Shop learning media is valid, practical, and effective in supporting the teaching of arithmetic operations up to 20 for first-grade elementary school students.
