ABSTRACT
This study aims to describe the visual elements and examine the context and purpose of the publication of photojournalistic images related to the Chernobyl nuclear explosion as presented by BBC Mundo. The method used is qualitative content analysis, focusing on aspects of composition, color, and camera angle. The results show that the dominance of black-and-white tones, varied compositions, and the selection of specific perspectives successfully create a dramatic and serious atmosphere while illustrating the vast scale of the disaster. In terms of context, these photographs were published to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, with the purpose of preserving historical memory, documenting the reality of the event, and educating the public about the impacts and dangers of radiation.
