Abstract
This research analyzes Javier Milei's economic policies in addressing the multidimensional economic crisis in Argentina during the 2023–2025 period. Argentina was trapped in a cycle of chronic fiscal deficits and hyperinflation, which were further exacerbated by external shocks such as the historic La Niña drought and the US Federal Reserve's high-interest rate policies. Utilizing the theoretical framework of Political Neoliberalism, this study examines how the Milei administration implemented "Shock Therapy" strategies through three main pillars: mass deregulation, privatization of state assets, and trade liberalization. The research method employed is qualitative-explanatory with literature study data collection techniques. The results indicate that Milei's policies represent a form of strategic synchronization between the domestic libertarian agenda and IMF structural conditionalities to restore international credibility. Although the government successfully achieved a primary fiscal surplus and significantly reduced monthly inflation by mid-2025, these policies created an economic paradox in the form of very high social costs, with poverty rates remaining stagnant at 50%–52%. This study concludes that within Milei's neoliberal project, capital stability and global market confidence are prioritized over the social welfare of the population.
