Abstract
Parent stock chicken maintenance is crucial because it will impact the hatchability and quality of the DOC produced. The older the parent hen, the hatchability and quality of the DOC will decrease. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of differences in the age of parent stock hens on the hatchability and quality of the DOC produced. The material used was Hatching Eggs (9000 eggs) from the Isa Brown strain of 30-week-old and 50-week-old parents. The method used was the observation method, namely by observing and going directly to the research location. The variables observed were Hatchability and DOC Quality (Pasgar Score), observations were made on the 19th day (transfer and candling) and the 21st day (pull chick). The collected data were then subjected to statistical analysis using the Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the hatchability of 30-week-old parents (91.9%) significantly gave a higher value than 50-week-old parents (88.4%). While the quality of DOC there was no significant difference between 30-week-old parents (9.8) and 50-week-old parents (9.8). The conclusion is that the older the mother hen, the lower the hatching power produced, while there is no significant difference in the quality of the DOC produced.
