Abstract
#KaburAjaDulu has become a topic of public interest, this hashtag refers to the younger generation’s desire to migrate abroad. The phenomenon surrounding this hashtag saw a significant surge in 2024, peaking in early 2025 specifically in February particularly on the X platform. It has simultaneously served as a form of symbolic protest and digital critical awareness regarding dissatisfaction with domestic economic, social, and political conditions. Young people perceive opportunities for growth in Indonesia as increasingly limited, while trust in the government continues to decline due to rampant corruption and policies deemed unfair, compounded by the use of social media that amplifies and reinforces the narrative of this hashtag until it goes viral on the X platform.
This study aims to identify differences in framing between two online media outlets in Indonesia Detik.com and Tempo.co using Robert N. Entman’s framing theory, to examine how the framing created by these two media outlets differs. The method chosen by the researcher in this study is qualitative framing analysis, using a constructivist approach. Data was obtained from each online media outlet: 10 news articles from Detik.com and 10 news articles from Tempo.co. Framing analysis was conducted using Robert N. Entman’s four framing elements: problem definition, case diagnosis, moral judgment, and solution recommendations.
The results of this study indicate that Detik.com tends to frame #KaburAjaDulu in a confrontational manner toward the government by highlighting public disappointment. Meanwhile, Tempo.co emphasizes that this hashtag represents a real phenomenon, based on verified data. Tempo.co also views migration as a right of every citizen. These differences in framing reflect the distinct approaches each media outlet takes in constructing the social reality faced by Indonesian society. This study is expected to contribute to the development of communication studies, particularly in understanding the role of the media in shaping public perception of social issues.
