Abstract
Smallholder dairy farming plays an important role in supporting national milk supply, particularly through partnership systems with milk processing industries such as PT. Greenfield. Milk production and quality are strongly influenced by feed management, especially the composition and level of forage and concentrate feeding. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of differences in feed quality and quantity on milk yield and milk quality of Peranakan Friesian Holstein (PFH) dairy cows, focusing on Total Solid (TS) and milk protein content. The results showed that feeding treatments had a highly significant effect (P < 0.01) on Total Solid and milk protein content. The highest average Total Solid was obtained in P1 (14.26%), followed by P2 (13.54%) and P3 (10.84%). Similarly, the highest milk protein content was found in P1 (3.31%), followed by P2 (3.11%) and P3 (2.78%). In conclusion, improved feed management with higher quality and quantity significantly enhances milk quality of smallholder dairy cows. Therefore, proper feeding strategies are recommended to improve the productivity and competitiveness of smallholder dairy farmers within the PT. Greenfield partnership system.
