Abstract

This study analyzes Cristiano Ronaldo’s role in celebrity diplomacy in promoting the values of Football for All through Al-Nassr. It focuses on how Ronaldo, as a non-state actor, influences global attention, perception, and public acceptance of non-European football through digital space. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis of academic literature, sports industry reports, international media coverage, and social media content from Ronaldo and Al-Nassr. The analytical framework applies Andrew F. Cooper’s concept of celebrity diplomacy, which emphasizes three main dimensions: visibility, legitimacy, and cultural bridging. The findings show that Ronaldo plays a significant role in increasing the global visibility of Al-Nassr and the Saudi Pro League, strengthening the league’s professional legitimacy through his reputation and the domino effect of elite player transfers, and creating cultural bridges through the digital representation of local Saudi cultural symbols. This study concludes that Ronaldo not only brings popularity to the club, but also functions as an actor of contemporary public diplomacy who helps expand the meaning of football inclusivity in global discourse.
