Abstract

Elementary education plays a crucial role in developing students' basic skills. Reading is one of the language skills that elementary school students must master. However, difficulties in learning to read at the beginning are a common problem, especially among lower grade students. The use of concrete learning media can help students understand the material easily, enjoyably, and provide meaningful experiences. This study aims to develop a reading kit (KOBACA) in Indonesian language learning for first-grade students at SDN Pohsangit Leres II, specifically for the beginning reading material.
The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of the research were 28 first-grade students of SDN Pohsangit Leres II. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. This research used qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. Qualitative data analysis was obtained from the results of interviews, observations, suggestions, and comments from experts. Quantitative data analysis was obtained from validation by material and media experts, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires, as well as the results of evaluation questions. The data obtained were used to test the validity, practicality, and attractiveness of the KOBACA media in Indonesian language learning for first-grade students of SDN Pohsangit Leres II.
The results of the study showed that the KOBACA media obtained a percentage of 92.5% from the validation of material experts and 84.37% from the validation of media experts with a very feasible category. The results of the teacher response questionnaire showed a percentage of 100% and the results of student responses obtained a percentage of 96.8%. Based on these results, the KOBACA media was declared feasible and interesting to be used as a supporting medium for initial reading in Indonesian language learning for grade 1 students in order to achieve maximum learning objectives.
