Abstract

Education is a fundamental human process for acquiring knowledge, skills, experience, and discovering one’s identity. One educational strategy that can be implemented to shape national character is the development of a local content curriculum, which has been applied within the Indonesian education system. The development of local content represents the internalization of noble values for the younger generation, functioning not only as a means of preservation but also as an effort to advance and develop culture toward the refinement of human civilization.
This study develops a learning product in the form of a big book using the ADDIE model. The first stage is analysis, which is conducted to identify the condition and needs of the learners. The second stage is design, involving the planning of appropriate media according to learners’ needs. The third stage is development, in which the big book media is produced. The fourth stage is implementation, where the media is applied at UPT SD Negeri 349 Gresik. The final stage is evaluation, which aims to assess the results of the media development.
The research and development of the big book media resulted in a material validity percentage of 72,2% and a media validity percentage of 70%, both of which fall into the good category. Based on student responses collected through questionnaires, a percentage of 95,2% was obtained, which falls into the very good category, while teacher responses showed a result of 95,8%, also categorized as very good. Recommendations for students include utilizing the media effectively to facilitate the learning process. Teachers are encouraged to use surrounding objects as learning media to help students better understand the material. Future researchers are advised to further develop and improve the learning media.
