Abstract

This research discusses the impact of gadget use on the cognitive and emotional development of pre-school children who actively use these devices (gadgets). The aim of this research is to determine the cognitive and emotional impacts of pre-school children that arise when using gadgets, and to find out parents' descriptions of how to overcome the impacts that arise on these children. This study was conducted using qualitative methods with qualitative techniques by conducting interviews with three parents as the main participants. The research results show that the use of gadgets in pre-school children has a positive impact, such as increasing vocabulary, ability to recognize colors and counting skills. However, there are also negative impacts, such as potential dependence on gadgets and reduced social interaction for children. Parents tend to give devices as a way to calm their children, but they also try to reduce the time they use gadgets by setting time limits, accompanying their children, and providing alternative activities. This research suggests the importance of parental supervision in using gadgets to maximize positive benefits and minimize negative impacts.
