Abstract

In the era of globalization and the increasing influence of Western values, a decline in national sentiment among students has emerged as a critical issue, necessitating intensive efforts to rebuild national identity through comprehensive political education. Extra-curricular student organizations (Ormek), including Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII), Gerakan Mahasiswa Nasional Indonesia (GMNI), Ikatan Mahasiswa Muhammadiyah (IMM), Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI), and Gerakan Mahasiswa Kristen Indonesia (GMKI), have played a strategic role in fostering increase nationalism by integrating cadre training, social action, and political education. This study aims to analyze the role of Ormek in enhancing increase nationalism to evaluate the effectiveness of the innovative strategies implemented amid challenges posed by rapid technological innovation and pervasive foreign influences, ultimately informing policy formulation for adaptive and sustainable political education. The research employs a qualitative research approach using a case study method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and comprehensive literature reviews, and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key patterns and themes regarding the promotion of nationalism. Results indicate that despite challenges such as limited resources and the overwhelming impact of Western cultural influences, intensive cadre training, leadership development, and effective social actions have significantly increased student engagement and strengthened resilient national identity
