Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of competence on employee performance with work motivation as an intervening variable at PT Telkom Akses Gadang. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon of unmet operational maintenance targets, which indicate suboptimal employee performance. This issue is allegedly caused by ineffective time management competence and a decrease in work motivation among employees. The type of research used is explanatory research with a quantitative approach using a survey method through questionnaires distributed to 40 employees determined by total sampling. The data were analyzed using Path Analysis with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results show that competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Competence also has a positive and significant effect on work motivation, and work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, work motivation is proven to mediate the relationship between competence and employee performance. These findings indicate that employees who possess strong competencies tend to have higher motivation, which in turn enhances their performance in achieving company targets.
