TINJAUAN MASLAHAH MURSALAH IMAM AL-GHAZALI ATAS TRADISI BARODAK DALAM ADAT PERNIKAHAN DI DESA TATEDE KECAMATAN LOPOK KABUPATEN SUMBAWA BESAR

This study aims to examine the Barodak tradition in the marriage customs of Tatede Village, Lopok District, West Sumbawa Regency, based on the concept of *Maslahah Mursalah* proposed by Imam Al-Ghazali. The Barodak tradition is an important part of the Sumbawa traditional wedding procession that embodies social values such as mutual cooperation, helping one another, and solidarity, which play a role in strengthening social bonds within the community. Using a qualitative research method through interviews, observation, and documentation studies, this research analyzes the tradition in accordance with the principles of *Maqasid al-Shariah*, namely the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property.

The results of the study show that the Barodak tradition contains social and cultural benefits that are in line with the principles of *Maslahah Mursalah*. Therefore, this tradition can be accepted and maintained within the framework of Islamic law as long as it does not cause harm to the community. In addition, the tradition also plays a role in preserving local cultural values while adapting to the teachings of Islam. However, the implementation of this tradition should continue to be evaluated in order to remain relevant and harmonious with the development of society and religious law.

This study provides an important contribution to understanding and harmonizing customary traditions with the principles of Islamic law, particularly in the context of marriage practices in the Sumbawa community. It is therefore expected that the Barodak tradition can be preserved as a cultural heritage that brings benefit and remains harmonious with religious values.
