Abstract
Backround: Puberty is a critical transitional period marked by physical, psychological, and social changes. One
physiological change in boys is nocturnal emission, which can trigger emotional confusion and embarrassment. A lack of
knowledge and reproductive health education may lead to negative feelings and behaviors. This study aims to examine the
relationship between the level of knowledge and readiness in facing nocturnal emission among male elementary school
students aged 10–13 years.
Method: This research employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 133
male students aged 10–13 years, selected through purposive sampling from August to September 2025. The independent
variable was the level of knowledge measured using a 10-item questionnaire, while the dependent variable was readiness
assessed through attitude and psychomotor questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rho correlation with a
significance level of p<0.05.
Results: The analysis showed that knowledge level toward attitude had a value of p = 0.914 with a correlation strength
of r = 0.009, indicating a non-significant and very weak relationship. Knowledge level toward psychomotor actions had a
value of p = 0.019 with a correlation strength of r = 0.202, indicating a weak but significant positive relationship.
Meanwhile, attitude toward psychomotor actions had a value of p = 0.043 with a correlation strength of r = 0.175,
indicating a weak but significant positive relationship.
Conclusion: This study concludes that the readiness of male elementary school students in facing puberty, particularly
nocturnal emission, is influenced by the interrelation of knowledge, attitude, and actions. Knowledge contributes to the
formation of adaptive actions, while positive attitudes strengthen behavioral readiness. The findings emphasize the important
role of nurses in providing age-appropriate reproductive health education, early detection of psychosocial unpreparedness,
and emotional support. Collaboration between schools and families is essential to help children understand puberty as a
normal biological process and to support adaptive behavioral readiness.
