Abstract

Employee performance appraisal is an important activity in a company to evaluate employee performance as a basis for managerial decision making. Performance appraisal conducted manually and subjectively may result in inaccurate decisions. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop a Decision Support System (DSS) for employee performance appraisal using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method at PT. Prima Girsangs Teknik, so that the appraisal process can be carried out objectively and systematically. The developed system applies several performance appraisal criteria determined by the company. The TOPSIS method is implemented through the stages of decision matrix normalization, criteria weighting, determination of positive and negative ideal solutions, calculation of the distance of each alternative to the ideal solution, and determination of preference values and employee ranking. The calculation results show that alternative A5 is the best-performing employee with a preference value of V = 1.00, followed by A2 and A3, A4, and A1. The results of the User Acceptance Test (UAT) indicate an average score of 84%, which falls into the very good category, while black box testing confirms that all system functions operate correctly and validly.
