Abstract

Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is a key indicator that reflects the level of economic growth and welfare in a region. Java, as the center of national economic activity, contributes more than half of Indonesia's GDP and has a complex economic structure. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), labor force, poverty, and population size on RDP in six provinces on Java Island during the period 2014–2023. Using a quantitative approach and panel regression analysis methods, this study tests the partial and simultaneous effects of the four variables on provincial RDP. The results indicate that the HDI variable has a significant positive impact on GRDP, while poverty and population size tend to have a positive but insignificant impact in some cases, and the labor force variable has a negative but insignificant impact in this study. The complexity of Java Island, such as population density, regional disparities, and economic sector diversity, plays a decisive role in GRDP dynamics. This study provides important empirical contributions for local governments in designing data-driven development policies and emphasizes the need for a multidimensional approach in analyzing regional economic growth.
