Abstract

Tiktok as the object of research and students of the Department of Communication Science, University of Muhammadiyah Malang as subjects, based on research that has been conducted from the closest environment regarding the use of Tiktok. This increases curiosity about the use of TikTok as a medium for self-actualization. The purpose of this study was to determine the achievement of self-actualization in Utilizing Tiktok Media in Students of the 2019 Communication Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Malang based on Herbert Blumerdan Elihu Kartz uses and gratification Theory. In this study, researchers used the post-positivism paradigm, a qualitative approach with interactive analysis models. This research is a descriptive research, which is intended to explain phenomena using the closest data.

Based on the result of the research are that most users of the Tiktok application are used as an outlet or are said to be an escape need. Based on the findings found by researchers, entertainment content is content that is in great demand by students because it has its own impression to entertain themselves. That way, the Tiktok social media application can be said to be the current trend because it generates knowledge in addition to entertaining yourself. The many impacts of social media tiktok encourage people to experience a shift in behavior. They think that it turns out that seeing the social media application can relieve their thoughts, entertain themselves.
