Abstract

Background: University students are at a stage of young adulthood development, which makes them vulnerable to exposure to dating violence. Dating violence negatively impacts various aspects of their lives, including academic performance. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between dating violence and academic performance among university students in Malang.
Methods: This study is a quantitative research design using a correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, involving 400 students. The instruments used are the Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationship Inventory (CADRI), consisting of 24 statement items, and the Academic Performance Rating Scale (APRS), consisting of 18 statement items. The data were analyzed using Spearman's Rank Correlation test.
Results: The analysis indicates a significant negative relationship between dating violence and academic performance among students in Malang (p-value = 0.000; correlation coefficient = -0.596).
Conclusion: Therefore, the findings suggest that universities should provide appropriate resources and support for students experiencing dating violence through counseling services, healthy relationship education programs, and emotional regulation training.
