Abstract

Positioning is the process when a person places himself in a certain role when interacting with others, for example in a group discussion. Adversity quotient is an individual's ability to handle various challenges. This study aims to describe the positioning of prospective elementary school teachers in solving spatial problems based on the adversity quotient at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, requiring observation of prospective elementary school teachers' problem-solving strategies based on their adversity quotient. The study was conducted in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Data were obtained through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. Analysis included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Checking the validity of data using technical triangulation.
The results of this study obtained data that individuals with the climber, camper, and quitter types occupy the beginner position by fulfilling the indicators. Two individuals were campers. vii One camper takes the position of facilitator. The implications of this research are that lecturers can understand the positioning of prospective elementary school teachers so that lecturers can facilitate learning that encourages students to learn in groups collaboratively, especially in solving problems. Prospective elementary school teacher students can utilize group discussion activities as a means of learning together. It is recommended that future research conduct in-depth research related to problem solving based on the adversity quotient.
