Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by e-comic modules in improving students’ mathematical communication skills and conceptual understanding at the junior high school level. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects were junior high school students who participated in mathematics learning using the TGT model assisted by e-comic modules.
Data were collected through observation of teachers and students’ activities, tests of mathematical communication skills, and tests of conceptual uuderstanding. Mathematical communication skills were analyzed based on three indicators, namely written text, drawing, and mathematical expression, while conceptual understanding was analyzed using seven indivators of mathematical conceptual understanding. Data analysis wa conducted through the stages of data reduction. Data display, and conclusion drawing.
The results showed that the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by e-comic modules improved student learning activities, mathematical communication skills, and conceptual understanding. Students became more active in expressing mathematical ideas, were able to write and represent mathematical concepts more clearly, and demonstrated deeper conceptual understanding. Therefore, the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted instruction at the junior high school level.
