Abstract

This research is entitled "The Impact of Online Game Addiction on Learning Interest Among Students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang". This study aims to analyze the sociological impact of online game addiction on learning interest among students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research was conducted at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The research method is qualitative with a case study research type. The technique for determining research subjects uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques are obtained through observation, documentation, interviews. The theory used for analysis in this study is the theory of media consumption initiated by Jean Baudrillard. The results of this study are factors that influence online game addiction are based on individual factors, social factors, technological factors and game design. Then the impact of online game addiction is poor time management, impaired concentration, influence in social interaction. If analyzed using media consumption theory, the simulation indicates as if there is no limit when playing online games, simulacra that creates a virtual identity with achievements that can be obtained such as rewards or rewards, with hyperreality that causes impossibility by making players become emotionally attached to the game.
