Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is an important competence in solving AKM numeracy literacy questions. One internal factor that influences this ability is students’ self-regulation, which includes motivational, learning behavior, and metacognitive aspects. This study aims to analyze the influence of students’ self-regulation on mathematical problem-solving ability in solving AKM numeracy literacy questions. This research uses a quantitative approach with a multiple linear regression method. The research subjects were 80 eighth-grade students of Ar Rohmah Putri IBS Junior High School, Malang. Data were collected through a self-regulation questionnaire and a mathematical problem-solving ability test, and then analyzed using statistical techniques. The results show that, simultaneously, students’ self-regulation has a significant effect on mathematical problem-solving ability with a contribution of 28.6%. Furthermore, partially, the motivational and learning behavior aspects do not show a significant effect on problem-solving ability, while the metacognitive aspect has a positive and significant effect with the highest effective contribution of 25.12%. These findings indicate that self-regulation, especially the metacognitive aspect, is a dominant factor in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability.
