Abstract
Background Organizational culture is an important factor that influences the quality of nursing services in hospitals. A positive organizational culture can create a supportive work environment, strengthen work motivation, and encourage nurses to deliver optimal healthcare services. However, in practice, the performance of nurses is often affected by various cultural aspects within the organization that do not function optimally. Objective: To determine the relationship between organizational culture and the performance of nurses at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang Hospital. Methods: The study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was carried out using a simple random technique with a total of 135 nurses. Data collection was conducted using the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument to measure organizational culture and a nurse performance assessment questionnaire based on four main components, namely effectiveness and efficiency, responsibility, discipline, and initiative. Results: The results show that the most dominant organizational culture in the hospital is the clan culture, which emphasizes collaboration and a family-like work atmosphere. Findings also indicate that a considerable number of nurses demonstrate suboptimal performance. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between organizational culture and nurse performance, with a p-value of 0.036. Conclusion: This study concludes that organizational culture plays an essential role in shaping the behavior and performance of nurses. Strengthening a positive organizational culture is therefore necessary to improve the overall quality of nursing services in the hospital.
