Abstract

Background : Language development and gross motor development are two crucial aspects of early childhood development that are interconnected through the maturation of the nervous system, cognitive functioning, and environmental stimulation. Children with good language abilities are able to understand instructions, commands, and directions more effectively, enabling them to perform gross motor activities accurately and optimally. Conversely, delays in language development may hinder a child’s ability to follow movement instructions, participate in physical activities, and affect overall motor coordination. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between language development and gross motor development in children at As-Salam Preschool, Malang City
Research Methods :This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach to analyze the relationship between language development and gross motor development in children at As-Salam Preschool, Malang City. The study involved 30 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Preschool Language Scales Fifth Edition (PLS-5) to assess language development and the Test of Gross Motor Development Second Edition (TGMD-2) to evaluate gross motor development.
Results : The results showed a significant relationship between language development and gross motor development in children at As-Salam Preschool, Malang City, with a p-value of 0.009 (p < 0.05).
Conclusion :There is a significant relationship between language development and gross motor development in children at PAUD As-Salam, Malang City.
