Abstract

Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is a cardiovascular emergency that requires rapid and precise management. The pre-hospital phase is an important stage because initial interventions significantly affect the success of subsequent care. Ambulance nurses act as the first healthcare providers, performing initial assessments, stabilization, and clinical decision-making for ACS patients. Purpose: This study aims to explore the experiences of ambulance nurses in managing Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients in the pre-hospital area. Method: This qualitative study used a case study approach involving two ambulance nurses. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and validated using source triangulation. Data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Results: Data analysis produced four main themes: 1) Ambulance nurses teamwork in ACS management, 2) psychosocial aspects of nurses, 3) readiness of resources and facilities, and 4) limitations of pre-hospital services in ACS care. Conclusion: ACS management in the prehospital area requires competence, experience, and readiness of ambulance nurses under time and resource constraints. Strengthening competencies, providing facility support, and establishing effective coordination systems are needed to improve pre-hospital care quality and patient safety.
