Abstract

The short film Selaras is a practice-based final project that aims to analyze the role of the producer in short film production management through the application of the POAC theory (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling). This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a reflective approach, in which the author directly assumes the role of producer during the production process of Selaras. The results indicate that the producer holds a comprehensive managerial role throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production stages. During pre-production, the producer is responsible for idea planning, script development, scheduling, and budget design. In the production stage, the producer performs the actuating function through crew and talent coordination as well as on-site decision-making. Furthermore, in the post-production stage, the producer carries out the controlling function by supervising the editing process, managing music licensing, and overseeing film distribution. This final project concludes that the implementation of POAC theory in the production of the short film Selaras contributes significantly to the smooth execution of the production process and the achievement of managerial production objectives.
