Abstract
To attract public interest and increase awareness about an upcoming film release, film marketing is conducted through the creation of trailers. Film trailers are typically referred to as "previews," viewed as advertisements that give audiences a glimpse of the marketed film's content. This research aims to determine whether the Mencuri Raden Saleh trailer, as a promotional medium, influences the decision to watch the Mencuri Raden Saleh film.
The theory used in this research employs media exposure theory and the AIDDA theory. It utilizes a quantitative method and distributes a pre-survey questionnaire to 101 people. From the pre-survey results, 72 people met the population criteria, and the sample size was determined using total sampling technique.
The research results indicate an influence of exposure to the Mencuri Raden Saleh film trailer on the decision to watch the film. Based on the t-test results, with t-calculated > t-table (5.179 > 1.669) and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that exposure to the Mencuri Raden Saleh film trailer has a significant influence on the decision to watch the film.
This research recommends that trailers should be created with visual and narrative elements capable of capturing audience attention, thereby influencing them to decide to watch the film.
