Abstract

This study aims to determine the political communication strategy implemented by H. EDDY WIDJANARKO S. AP who has won the general election for DPRD members of Electoral District II of Malang City for the 2024-2029 period. In this study, media dependency theory is used. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with data collection using interviews aimed at 3 (three) informants. The results of this study are the political communication strategy carried out by DPRD legislative candidate Mr. H. Eddy in the 2024 election in Malang City shows a strong integration with media dependency theory in three main aspects: understanding, orientation, and entertainment (play). The campaign media used not only functions as a promotional tool, but also as a means of political education that provides understanding, directs political attitudes, and builds emotional involvement of the community through proportional entertainment. This strategy is able to strengthen trust, increase participation, and foster voter loyalty in a sustainable manner, while proving the effectiveness of the combination of substantial information and entertainment in modern political communication.
