Abstract
Background Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and death in Indone-sia, affecting patients’ physical, cognitive, and psychological functions. One of the common problems experienced by post-stroke patients is anxiety, which can wors-en sleep quality and hinder the recovery process. Anxiety in post-stroke patients can significantly affect their sleep quality. Patients with anxiety often experience difficulties in both the quality and duration of sleep. Objective: To analyze the correlation between anxiety levels and sleep quality among post-stroke patients. Methods: This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were obtained using consecutive sampling among post-stroke patients attending regular follow-ups at a neurology clinic. The research instru-ments were the Zung Self Anxiety Scale (ZSAS) to assess anxiety levels and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to evaluate sleep quality. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The results showed that most respondents experienced mild anxiety (49%) and poor sleep quality (55%). The Spearman correlation test indicated a significant positive relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality in post-stroke patients, with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.01) and a correlation coefficient of +0.264, indicating a moderate positive correlation. This finding suggests that higher anxiety levels are associated with poorer sleep quality among post-stroke patients. Conclusion: This study demonstrates a significant relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality in post-stroke patients, where increased anxiety is associated with worsen-ing sleep quality.
