Abstract
Tourism is considered sufficient to contribute to economic development, especially as a task and function of the Berau Regency Culture and Tourism Office. The policy direction of the Berau Regency Government itself makes East Kalimantan a tourism based on ecotourism and local wisdom, but facts on the ground show that the Berau Regency Culture and Tourism Office has not paid adequate attention to sustainable tourism. The purpose of this study is to find out and describe the implementation of the development of tourism sector strategies in Berau Regency, using research methods in this case itself is a descriptive qualitative research method, In the lens of policy implementation, the communication steps of the Berau Regency Regional Government itself are considered to have been carried out quite well. This can be seen from how the implementation of the aspects of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucracy there are quite good steps taken by the Berau Regency Culture and Tourism Office.
