Abstract
Background: Recurrent flooding in Sitiarjo Village has become a serious problem that
occurs almost every year and not only damages the environment and disrupts daily
activities, but also poses health risks such as injuries, skin infections, waterborne
diseases, and hypothermia. This condition places vulnerable groups such as children,
older adults, and pregnant women at greater risk of being affected and experiencing
harm during floods. This situation indicates that the community remains at risk of
various health emergencies in the early phase of flooding, yet the extent of their
preparedness is still unknown.
Objective: This study aims to describe the level of community preparedness in Sitiarjo
Village in facing flood disasters based on the four preparedness domains established
by LIPI–UNESCO/ISDR (2006), namely disaster risk knowledge, emergency
response planning, early warning system, and resource mobilization.
Methods: This research used a descriptive cross-sectional design with purposive
sampling involving 88 respondents. Data were collected using a validated and reliable
questionnaire, then analyzed descriptively using univariate analysis to assess the level
of community preparedness.
Results: The results showed that community preparedness was in the very ready
category (86.11%), with disaster risk knowledge at 100%, emergency response planning
at 95,58%, early warning system at 63,64%, and resource mobilization at 31,25%.
Conclusion: The community of Sitiarjo Village is categorized as very ready to face
flood disasters; however, there is still a need to enhance training and community
participation in resource mobilization to strengthen overall preparedness through
increased awareness, coordination, and cross-sectoral readiness.
