Abstract
Background: Low back pain (LBP) begins with musculoskeletal complaints that are allowed to continue and result in permanent abnormalities in the muscles and body skeleton. Individuals with acute or chronic NPB often experience radicular pain, namely radiating to the buttocks and one of the thighs (Low Back Pain
Sciatica). This can occur as a result of work with a habit of leaning while carrying excessive physical workload which is exacerbated by long periods of work. Excessive workload can cause excessive weakness in the muscles. Long periods of work cause permanent narrowing of the disc space. Activities that cause overstress
in the muscles for a long time can increase the risk of Low Back Pain Sciatica.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between working years and physical workload on the risk of low back pain accompanied by sciatica nerve disorders in rice farmers in Pakisaji Village.
Methods: This research used an observational method with a cross sectional design among farmers in Pakisaji Village with a sample size of 49 people who met the inclusion criteria as research respondents. Researchers conducted questionnaire
interviews regarding the respondent's work period and measured pulse rates to measure physical workload using the cardiovascular load (CVL) method. The risk of complaints of low back pain sciatica is measured using the Obserty Disability Index (ODI) questionnaire.
Results: The results of the Spearman rho correlation test were 0.034 on the relationship between length of service and the risk of low back pain sciatica, which indicated that there was a positive relationship between length of service and the risk of complaints of low back pain sciatica. Meanwhile, Spearman's analysis of
0.034 on the relationship between physical workload and the risk of low back pain sciatica shows that there is a positive relationship between a high CVL risk level and the risk of low back pain sciatica.
Conclusion: There is a relationship between working years and the risk of low back pain sciatica and there is a relationship between physical workload and the risk of low back pain sciatica
