Abstract
Bullying often occurs and is a major topic in research in various fields including education, because the problem is very concerning. One of the contributing factors to bullying is a low level of empathy. Empathy Trainning for Junior High School (ETJIS) is an empathy training intervention for bullies. The goal is to increase empathy to reduce bullying behavior in adolescent junior high school students. This study used a quasi-experimental design of a non-random re-experiment design model. The experimental group was treated in the form of ETJIS training for 6 sessions, involving 30 adolescent junior high school students who had medium and low empathy scores after being measured by the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) scale and had high bullying scores after being measured by the Olweous Bullying Victim Questionare (OBVQ) scale. The data analysis used was Wilcoxon's test and Whitney's Mann test as well as Kendall's Tau test. The results of the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test of empathy and bullying in the experimental group showed significant differences from the pre-test and post-test results, while the results of Kendall's Tau test showed a significant negative relationship between bullying behavior with students' empathetic abilities. This shows that with an increase in students' empathy skills can reduce bullying behavior.
