Abstract

Alcohol abuse among teenagers has quite a big impact, such as making the mind easily confused, emotions unstable, and behavior becoming maladaptive. Teenagers who abuse alcohol are most likely due to problems that they are unable to overcome. To face these conditions and not even fall deeper, endurance or resilience is needed. Resilience is an indicator that can make individuals resistant to pressure and recover or get out of a bad situation (stress). The research aims to increase the resilience of adolescents with alcohol abuse through the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) intervention. The research method uses a quasi-experiment with a pre-post-test control group design. The subjects in the study were ten male teenagers aged 14 to 15 years who met the inclusion criteria. The ten subjects were divided randomly into two groups: the experimental and the control
groups. The measuring tools for this research are the Adolescent Resilience Scale and the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS). Data analysis used non-parametric tests with the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study showed that there were differences in the level of resilience before and
after the intervention in the experimental group and there was no change in the control group. Apart from that, there was also a significant difference in the level of resilience in the experimental group and the control group after treatment (0.009 < 0.05). This explains that Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) can
increase the resilience of adolescents with alcohol abuse in the experimental group, and there was no change in the control group.
