Abstract
The documentary film "Bapang Joyosentiko" addresses the low level of public appreciation and understanding of Bapang Dance as an integral part of the Topeng Malangan art form, particularly concerning its historical value, philosophy, and moral significance. This situation is exacerbated by the scarcity of audiovisual media that specifically highlights Bapang Dance as the primary subject, resulting in inadequate dissemination of cultural information, especially among younger generations. Consequently, a feature documentary film was chosen as a culturally relevant communication medium that aligns with contemporary audiovisual consumption patterns.
This project aims to examine the producer's role in managing the entire production process of the documentary film "Bapang Joyosentiko" through a feature approach. The study focuses on implementing PDCA cycle-based production management (plan, do, check, act) to control the pre-production, production, and post-production processes. The methodology employed is a descriptive practice-based production method, executed through stages of concept planning, team organization, production execution, work supervision, and continuous evaluation of production outcomes.
The findings demonstrate that the producer plays a strategic role in maintaining the integration of managerial and creative aspects, coordinating the production team, managing time and budget, and supervising work quality at every production stage. The implementation of the PDCA cycle enables the producer to identify obstacles and implement continuous improvements. This study concludes that the success of feature documentary film production is significantly influenced by the producer's ability to apply systematic and planned production management in order to create informative, educational, and culturally valuable work.
