PERAN SUTRADARA DALAM FILM DOKUMENTER BERJUDUL “BAPANG JOYOSENTIKO”

This final project discusses the role of the director in the production of the documentary film 'Bapang Joyosentiko' as a strategic response to the cultural literacy crisis and the threat of losing the understanding of the values of the Bapang Malangan Dance. Through a feature approach, this film does not merely document the technical aesthetics of the dance, but emotionally highlights the human interest side and the dualism of the Bapang character. This character is portrayed as a symbol of gallant leadership as well as a representation of the imperfect human side to spark critical discussion among the younger generation through a more fluid creative narrative.

The revelation of these contradictory philosophical values is presented through deep storytelling as a form of advocacy for cultural honesty and wise guidance for the younger generation. In the directing process, the author emphasizes building mood and personal proximity with the subject to explore the hidden values behind tradition. Distribution is carried out through digital platforms to maximize discoverability and archival functions. This work concludes that a documentary film with a feature format is capable of becoming a highly effective medium of cultural communication in strengthening local identity and bridging complex traditional values with modern audiences through a more humane and entertaining approach.
