Abstract
Background :
Hyperbilirubinemia in neonates affects about 2.4 - 15% of neonatal conditions during the first two weeks of life. Serum bilirubin in newborns who experience asphyxia increases earlier with a higher peak compared to normal newborns
Method :
In this study using a case study report research strategy. The subjects of this study were 2 infants with a medical diagnosis of post-asphyxia hyperbilirubinemia who were treated in the Cut Nyak Dien Perinatology Room at Kanjuruhan Hospital.
Results :
The results of the study of baby 1 who were indicated for phototherapy with a combination of breastfeeding and baby 2 who were given breast milk showed that they both experienced a decrease in the degree of cremer.
Discussion :
Babies with post asphyxia hyperbilirubinemia have different conditions. In the two cases of infants in this study, there were hyperbilirubinemic infants with post asphyxia, which turned out to be indicated for phototherapy and non-phototherapy. Based on the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (2013) says that if the bilirubin level in a full-term newborn reaches 12 mg/dL or a premature baby reaches 10 mg/dL, then phototherapy is needed regardless of the baby's age. So it needs to be considered for a combination of breastfeeding interventions and phototherapy.
